Penrite 10 Tenths Running-In Oil 15W-40 is a high-zinc, mineral engine oil formulated especially for the run-in / break-in period of new, rebuilt, or crate engines. It is non-friction modified and has low detergent/dispersant levels, to allow proper bedding and ring seating while protecting valve train components.

This running-in oil from Penrite’s 10 Tenths line is designed for the critical early miles of engine operation, where controlled wear and proper piston ring seating are essential. It is a mineral base oil (not synthetic), with a High Zinc additive pack (exceeding 1600 ppm) to support camshafts, rockers, followers, and pushrods during the bedding period.
It is non friction-modified, meaning it does not include friction modifiers that could interfere with the run-in process.
Suitable for use in on-road, off-road, competition, and motorcycle engines (including wet-clutch setups).

Application & Usage Guidance

Use during initial engine break-in / run-in period — apply this oil for the first ~500 km (or as recommended) before switching to a standard or higher performance oil.

Avoid overuse of friction modifiers or detergents during this phase, as they can delay ring seating.

Although suited for a wide range of engines (petrol, diesel, LPG, competition), always confirm compatibility with the engine / manufacturer’s requirements.

Because of high zinc content, this oil is especially suited for engines without catalytic converters; for engines with cat / aftertreatment, check suitability.

For motorcycle systems with wet clutches, verify that there’s no adverse clutch action — generally compatible.
